Objectives

Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline is a free, confidential and anonymous telephone service for anyone affected by domestic abuse.  We receive around 2000 calls each year from victims (male as well as female), concerned friends, family or work colleagues, professionals who may have clients with them and also those who are concerned about their behaviour to others.  We provide a safe space for victims to discuss their options.  The decision as to what to do next remains with the caller.

The Helpline has been operational for a total of 16 years, the last five as a registered charity.

Activities

The Helpline takes calls from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.  Our well trained call takers listen non-judgmentally to what callers tell them before signposting them to one or more of some 170 organisations which can best assist them with their particular needs.
