Objectives

Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs changes the lives of young people and their families that are dealing with Autism, Down's Syndrome, Diagnosed Mental Issues and Physical Disablement.  we also embed Assistance Dogs in Special Needs Schools or Schools/Colleges with Special Needs Students.

Activities

Our objective is to help each young person to achieve their full potential, socially, educationally and eventually with work opportunities through the bond with a well trained dog that can help with confidence, be calming and undertake supportive tasks.  We achieve this through working with the family and dog to create a partnership and where the young person and their family understands the difference between a working dog and a pet as well as the welfare issues to ensure the dog enjoys what it does and is not stressed..  It is important, however, that even working dogs have down time and the opportunity to have fun.
