HEAR WOMEN is an international NGO based in London, UK with offices in East Africa. We work with governments, community leaders, businesses, academics and other similar NGOs to campaign for women’s rights and equality in all aspects of life.
Since our formation in 2008 we have focused on delivering informative and life changing projects for women and girls in the UK as well as in East Africa. Our projects include workshops, seminars and training sessions to educate women on topics related to: the dangers of female genital mutilation (FGM) and domestic violence; how to adopt healthful living practices; and how to become successful entrepreneurs, and to enhance their skills with the aim of becoming professionals in many different fields.
At Hear Women (GarGar Foundation), we are committed to speaking out on behalf of women who have suffered from Gender Based Violence.
One of our primary campaigns has been against the inhumane practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - we advocate on behalf of young girls to ensure they are not forced to undergo this traumatic procedure.
Hear Women not only gives women and girls a place to discuss issues related to FGM, it also provides referral services to providers who have experience in dealing with traumatic and stress conditions related to FGM.
Hear Women works with a variety of partners from women's, men's and youth groups, community leaders, mainstream civil society, and the media, in an effort to change discriminatory laws and practices against women, promote gender equality, and women's advancement in all aspects of public and private life.
