HEART UK - The Cholesterol Charity - is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with raised cholesterol and other blood fat and lipid conditions and also supporting the healthcare professionals treating these conditions. We aim to prevent avoidable and early deaths caused by high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. We're committed to raising awareness about the risks of high cholesterol, lobbying for better detection of those at risk and supporting health professional training.
Our vision is to prevent premature deaths caused by high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. We aim for the majority of the UK to know and understand their cholesterol levels and be taking any necessary action.
We run a Helpline 5 days a week 10am-3pm for anyone to call or email with their cholesterol or blood fat concerns. This is run by health care professionals.
We also provide information for people with cholesterol problems including useful diet guides; our information is also translated into different languages.
We campaign at Government level to ensure that cardiovascular disease remains a major health priority.
We work with a PR company to try and raise the awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol within the media.
We have a regular newsletter and magazine which goes to our supporters full of the latest information about lipids, hints and tips, news and views and recipes etc.
