The formal objectives of the Healthy Heart Trust (HHT) are the promotion of education and research into the causes of, and treatment for heart disease and other disorders for which there are underlying causes in common. Beneficiaries range from older people who may already suffer from heart disease right through to young people where our aim is to communicate and educate regarding the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The information and guidance provided by the HHT really matters because it is based on the very latest research, guidelines and clinical practice on cardiovascular matters.
The trust fosters and keeps abreast of cardiovascular research. It then uses its expertise to communicate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through activities including conferences, workshops and webinars. The trust has reached out to schools over a number of years promoting competitions aimed at increasing young people's awareness of cardiovascular health. This has included the trust using the medium of poetry to communicate health messages in an emotionally engaging way.
