Small or unincorporated organisation
Geographical remit:

Headway Hartlepool was set up to support those within the Hartlepool area suffering from a brain injury, or who might be living with someone with a brain injury.

We are a branch of the national charity Headway UK and want to develop services in Hartlepool, for the people of Hartlepool and surrounding areas.

We recognise that this will take time and effort, but with the help and expertise of those brain injury sufferers and their families in Hartlepool, we believe Headway Hartlepool can make a positive impact in raising awareness and changing the outlook for those suffers in the future who, may need our help.

Headway Hartlepool puts brain injury sufferers at the centre of the service, using their vision, experiences and needs to develop our services.

Following discussion with our members, we decided that our Mission should be to develop a range of sessions which may include:

  • Brain injury education sessions
  • Well-being sessions
  • Social sessions
  • Leisure and community sessions
  • Vocational sessions
  • Drop-in/ practical help sessions

Through our sessions we aim to provide:

  • Support to those with an ABI, their families and their friends.
  • ┬áSocial, leisure and other activities within a remit of social rehabilitation.
  • Information and signposting regarding services and help available to adults with ABI and their families and friends.
  • Informal education to those with an ABI, their families and friends about the effects of brain injury and how to positively manage their difficulties.
  • Individually tailored support provided in both group and individual format.
