Objectives

We are an independent registered charity dedicated to providing continued support to survivors and their families/carers following brain injury in Darlington, Durham, Stockton on Tees and North Yorkshire.

We offer support, advice and education to brain injury survivors and their families through our monthly paid membership. The service we offer is provided in our Headway Darlington hub in a safe and non-judgemental environment to socialise, learn and grow their skills.

We understand that each brain injury is unique and tailor our support to enable our members to  rebuild their lives after brain injury.

Activities

Our aim is to deliver a range of services and support for brain injury survivors and their families/carers that are not met by the NHS, including:

  • Dedicated helpline for 6 days a week;
  • One to one psychological support on demand;
  • Neuro-educational sessions focussed on understanding and coping with residual difficulties following brain injury;
  • Recreational groups to develop interests, self-confidence, interpersonal skills and social interaction.
  • Holistic therapies
  • Advocacy to ensure that survivors’ needs are met
  • Therapeutic garden.  Our motto is, “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”
  • Quarterly socials and outings

We are continually working to develop our services and have a number of projects planned in the future to meet the changing needs and interests of our members.
