The Object of the Association is:
(a) to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Crawley Down and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreations and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants.
(b) to establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre and to maintain and manage, or to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects.
The Community Centre was named The Haven Centre, by people of the community.
A Trading subsiduary, the Cafe Bar, offers very reasonably priced drinks and snacks, and has a free playroom for visitors and a private room for small events/dinners. The Haven Centre itself has a large hall with a stage and dressing rooms, 3 meeting rooms and is home to the The Crawley Down Gatwick Football club, offering changing rooms, office and other facilities.
Typical offerings at the Centre are Yoga, Dance, Pilates, Knit & Natter, and a toddlers group. The Main Hall is also hired for private parties, it is also used by the local theatre group and many of the community clubs use the meeting rooms as well.
