Objectives

HARC is the best known specialist Advice Centre in the Hastings and Rother area, for people needing advice on Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits. We assist with the benefits process from initial paper work to representation at Appeal Tribunal. We advise clients throughout East Sussex at our offices or, through home visits and outreach surgeries. In a typical year we raise over 4 million pounds in unclaimed or reinstated benefits for people on a low income who may also be suffering through disadvantage or disability.  We operate two Charity Shops which help raise funds for our centre. We work closely with local GPs Social Workers, Mental Health Teams and other voluntary and statutory agencies to provide a holistic solution to client problems.

Activities

  • Provide comprehensive information on all Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits
  • Provide free, impartial, confidential advice, through appointments, home visits, surgeries, telephone and email
  • Represent clients at first tier and upper tribunals
