Geographical remit:

We aim to develop and promote a voice for our age group with regard to local service provision in our borough, both public and private. This involves a lot of information provision and participation in public consultations.  And to bring people together for mutual support and socialising, to combat loneliness and help resolve common problems of seniors concerning health services, access to social care, coping with energy bills and rising prices, social isolation, difficulties in doing things online, personal safety and coping with both own frailty or caring for others.

Monthly newsletter, web site, monthly meetings with discussion or speaker, picnics, outings, a monthly film club, coffee/tea sessions. Throughout the pandemic we made regular phone calls of the 160 odd members to check people were ok and see what their needs were. We tried to help people get online by distributing tablets and arranging digital skills classes. We want to improve our capacity for visiting members and bringing isolated members into contact with others and with groups that they can join in to follow cultural interests and make friends. We want to improve our web site and make sure it is frequently updated. We seek to become a CIO to increase our chances of charitable funding so that we can pay an organisational support worker and continue to mail paper copies of our newsletter to those members who can't get online.
