The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation is an independent charitable foundation and the largest grant maker to specialise in awarding grants across Hampshire, including the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, and the Isle of Wight.
While Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is a beautiful and often prosperous area in which to live and work, we also know that there is significant poverty, often hidden from view. There are 81 areas in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight identified as being within the 20% most deprived in the country. Many within our communities face a multitude of barriers to success and wellbeing because of mental health, disability or housing issues, or because they belong to under-represented groups, like LGBTQ+ and minority ethnic communities.
Our work is focussed on helping alleviate these issues now – and in the future. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that we can’t guess what's around the corner. And that is the great advantage of Endowment funding, with your support it will be there forever, whatever the need in the community and whatever the cause or origin of that need.
We specialise in identifying and supporting under-represented communities and groups, particularly communities in low socio-economic areas, and aim to tackle entrenched social problems. Quite simply, we champion local people and services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. And when advice, encouragement and funding is needed, we’re there to provide a helping hand.
