Haemophilia Scotland is dedicated to improving the life experiences of people in Scotland who are living with a bleeding disorder.  We provide a unique and vital service, combining a detailed knowledge of different conditions and their specific treatments within NHS Scotland with the personal experience of living with bleeding disorders, to provide information, advocacy and support.

When people live with a rare condition, the opportunity to connect with others is vitally important.  It helps people to feel less isolated and enables them to manage their own situation more confidently; it builds enduring peer support relationships; it enables the sharing of vital information about new developments in treatment, with others’ first-hand experience contributing to knowledge and understanding.

During the pandemic, when face to face activities had to stop, we ensured people could still connect online. However, we are now in the process of planning an exciting face to face Events Programme for the future.

Our events include a mix of age-appropriate social activities such as walking football, fishing trips, swimming, sailing, Pilates and a young people’s residential weekend.   Events are specifically targeted at different groups:

  • People who are newly diagnosed
  • Families
  • Teens
  • Young adults
  • Women
  • Older people
