Objectives

Hackney Foodbank is an independent charity,  founded in 2012 as part of The Trussell Trust’s network of food banks.  We support people who are in crisis or trapped in poverty with compassion and dignity, by providing immediate relief from hunger and increasing hope with a three-day emergency food parcel, support, and signposting to people who have been issued a food bank voucher.

Activities

Hackney Foodbank's vision is for a hunger-free Hackney, where everyone can afford to eat. Working with front-line care professionals from over 200 organisations in the borough of Hackney, we mobilise more than 100 volunteers to support people in crisis or trapped in poverty with 3 days’ worth of emergency food supplies alongside access to relevant support services to help them address the root causes and wider effects of poverty in their lives. We are passionate about ensuring no member of our community should go hungry in a time of crisis, and we believe in working together as a community across social and denominational boundaries to make it happen.

Hackney Foodbank operates five distribution centres per week, with a sixth to follow in 2022. Our current distribution centres are spread across five locations in the borough of Hackney in Dalston, Stoke Newington, Upper Clapton and two in Hoxton. Our offices are located in Hoxton.
