Activities

About our care homes

Our three care homes are located in Worthing, West Sussex and provide residential, nursing and dementia care in safe, purpose-built environments. From a week of respite or convalescence to permanent residency, we offer lengths of stay to suit any need. Each of our nursing homes are not-for-profit, enabling us to keep enhancing our residents’ facilities and support the local community.

Home Care (domiciliary care)

Our Home Care service - which is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission - was established in 1994 to promote independent living.

The service enables older people and vulnerable adults in and around Worthing to lead better quality lives whilst remaining safe and comfortable in their own homes.

Our caring and professional Community Care Assistants can help with personal care, domestic help, emotional support and general assistance with other tasks, such as shopping, medication and mobility.

Creating Connections

Creating Connections is a new and exciting prevention service for those aged 65 and over. It aims to reduce loneliness and isolation in Worthing through companionship, shared interests, and community participation. It is hoped, that by reducing social isolation and loneliness, we can contribute to supporting people to remain living independently, for as long as possible.

The service provides a volunteer led range of Worthing based opportunities and activities codesigned by people aged 65+ for people aged 65+. Specifically, it includes:

  • One-to-one befriending and companionship via the phone, in the community, or in people’s homes.
  • Weekly face-to-face group activities, such as seated exercise, music, photography, quizzes, and book clubs.
  • Monthly social events, including Sunday lunch and Saturday Social events at the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.

Ashdown Club

Our Ashdown Club offers short breaks for children aged 5-12 with learning disabilities and other complex needs.

The service's caring, skilled and dedicated staff create a safe, stimulating and fun environment for the children, with one-to-one supervision if required.

  • Our sensory room instils feelings of calm and relaxation with soothing lights, bubbles and music

Dementia Care & Support Services

Receiving a diagnosis of dementia affects people in different ways. We also know that there are numerous questions that people need answers to. Furthermore, we recognise that as dementia progresses, it is important for people to carry on with their interests and for carers to have time to themselves, even if it is only for a few hours. That's why Guild Care runs a range of dementia support services in Worthing.

Transport service

Transport is a vital part of our work in reducing isolation and improving the health and wellbeing of older people in the community. Connecting local people to our services is the important role of our dedicated transport team. It enables local people who cannot drive or may not be confident about leaving their home to easily access Guild Care’s range of services. This affordable door-to-door service makes 480 passengers journeys each week and our fleet of nine minibuses travel around 63,000 miles in total during the year.

First established in the 1960s, our community transport service the fleet of nine wheelchair accessible minibuses. Last year they made thousands of journeys, bringing people to and from their homes to our services in comfort. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteer drivers are fully trained to provide you with a safe and caring service.
