The Groundlings Theatre Trust is a theatre company and drama school that provide professional entertainment and training alongside an outreach programme that provides services and opportunities to our local community. We operate out of Grade II* listed building that has a unique and layered history, dating back to 1784 when it was first built as a Beneficiary School. Our local council ward is in the top 10% most deprived in the country and we are committed to identifying and supporting the needs of our community through the delivery of arts events and performances; the education of performing arts and associated skills along with providing opportunities to upskill participants, battle social isolation and provide valuable experience to those often forgotten.
Our yearly in-house programme, is a mixture of both professional and amateur shows that both entertains the community and highlights its grassroots talent. Our drama school is the best value for money in the area, providing unprejudiced opportunities for both young and old. Groundlings Theatre is supported by a solid volunteer base; provides numerous work placements and continues to provide safe and secure opportunities, allowing people to follow their interests, upskill themselves or assist those returning to paid employment.
