Objectives

Greenwich & Bexley Credit Union is a local not for profit financial co-operative, owned by our members and founded on principles of mutual co-operation and trust. Members pool their savings to create a pot of money from which we make affordable loans. Any surplus generated is ploughed back into the business or returned to members as a dividend on savings.

GBCU offers financial support to low income residents and employees in the London boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley and DA postcodes. We provide a safe and affordable alternative to payday lenders, doorstep lenders and loan sharks. We are a not-for-profit financial co-operative with over 10,000 members and assets of £16m.

Activities

The credit union was launched in 1998. Since then we have supported 16,000 local residents and employees and loaned more than £44 million.   We currently look after more than £13m of local savings.
