Objectives

Green Health Thames Valley provides support for clients with mental health difficulties through a tailored programme of horticulture-based programmes and activities – broadly described as horticultural therapy.

Led by an experienced Horticultural Therapist and a team of volunteers, we work with members of the community who have experience of mental health challenges, or who are recovering from or at risk of mental health difficulties, social isolation and socio-economic exclusion. We help people to manage their condition, gain new transferable skills, improve social inclusion and to gain confidence.

We help clients move from dependence to intedependence

Activities

As a consequence of receiving support and gaining a new range of skills our goal is to provide our clients with the tools they require to go on to some form of employment or a voluntary role as a ‘next step’ of their life journey. Our aim is to enable clients to become more self-sufficient; to increase their self-confidence and to move them closer to participation in Reading’s buoyant economy.

We are based at The Well Community Church in Whitley, South Reading – one of the UK’s most deprived areas.
