Objectives

Green Bridges Group Limited is an Islington based horticultural and young peoples training orgnisation. Providing eco-friendly practise to deliver green-space maintenance and design of recreational and visitor attraction spaces within urban environments.    The organisation was established in 2021and its focus is two-fold: to support young people into employment by offering work/training placements within the field of horticulture and climate awareness and address and minimise the impact of climate change within London boroughs. By extending networks and staying abreast of environmental practise Green Bridges Group aims to develop a longer-term aim by developing wider partnership opportunities with local borough councils, charities and property development agencies. Additional beneficiaries will be the general public, and with whom we shall hold continued local level public engagement.

Our aims are:

  1. To support the development of a green infrastructure: by addressing climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental risks to the public within the immediate areas of delivery.
  2. Develop full and part-time employment and training opportunities for young adults aged 16 years plus (inclusive of 18 month training programme and further work or training opportunities thereafter).
  3. Provide efficient public engagement to all sectors of local community (presenting work planned, identifying concerns and outcomes) by means of digital platforms, face to face meetings and general publicity.

Activities

The Green Bridges Group is in the start up phase. Currently provisional agreements have been reached with one local authority to deliver apprenticeship training programme (inclusive of green-space maintenance across the borough) and Web host name secured. To further the objectives the organisation now needs to officially adopt a social enterprise structure to progress work with local authority. Therefore requiring a minimum of two voluntary board members with an interest in the organisation's objectives or start-up groups to progress to fulfil its aims.
