We provide free, professional, face-to-face legal advice and representation to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. From completing forms to tribunal representation, we help people fight for the disability and sickness benefits they need and are entitled to. Since opening in August 2016 we have won back over £750,000 for those we represent. This money has restored lives and strengthened the local economy. We also run housing and employment clinics, providing essential advice helping people to defend their rights in their jobs and homes. We are staffed almost entirely by volunteers and never charge a fee for our services.
We help individuals through every stage of the process for claiming disability and sickness welfare, from completing forms to representing individuals who have had their claims rejected. Through our legal advice clinics we also advise in all matters relating to employment and housing law. All of our services are free.
The GMLC is also a campaigning organisation. We campaign on a range of access to justice issue, for the reversal of Government cuts to legal aid and for the restoration of the right to free, quality face-to-face legal advice for all members of the community.
