Objectives

The Grange is a registered charity, a social enterprise and a housing associated based on a 15-acre site in Bookham, Surrey. We provide a range of high quality services to adults primarily with learning disabilities (although many have physical disabilities as well). Our services include housing and accommodation, Supported Living Services, Residential Care and a variety of skills and training/work-related activities.
Our mission is to be an organisation where disabled people are respected and encouraged to achieve their potential. We want everyone at The Grange to participate as equals and be treated with courtesy and dignity. Everyone in our service has the right to be involved in making choices about their own lives and is encouraged to take responsibility for themselves.

Activities

Our Supported Living Service has 39 people living onsite who access our Supported Living Service, a further 16 people living in Bookham and 4 people at our shared, staffed house in Epsom. Demand for our Supported Living Service outstrips supply and we are working hard to try and increase our capacity to let those on our waiting list access our services.

Residential Care offers care onsite to 17 people who require a higher level of support. Staff are on hand 24 hours per day. Gloucester Lodge is arranged into three different ‘house’ groups (Cedar, Willow and Maple) to give a feel of being part of a small group living environment, rather than one large care home

Our range of skills and activities during the day for people we support are currently:

•  Creative Arts & Textiles
•  Horticulture
•  Catering
•  IT
•  Woodwork
•  Retail

The training offered in the various departments at The Grange introduces people we support to a structured working day. Those who go on to external work placements can begin with confidence, knowing that they have learned the skills they need to be valuable member of staff in an outside organisation.
