Govan Community Project is a community based organisation who provide a diverse range of support to meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees, primarily to the diverse community of Greater Govan but with some support offered to individuals resident in the wider Glasgow area. Our purpose is to achieve social justice by building a community based on equality, mutual respect, support and integration.
We provide direct services such as weekly drop-ins, advice, information and advocacy, organising cultural events, a community flat, English classes, destitution food project, hate-crime reporting and an interpreting service. In addition we engage with other local public, voluntary and community organisations to ensure the voices of our diverse community are heard and represented in planning, policy and service provision at both local and national level, promoting equal rights and opportunities and cross cultural understandings, and we work within our local community to build strong links within and between communities.
