Our aim is to provide a warm and caring, family orientated environment where your child can have fun
About us
Background to the Pre-School
Our ethos is to provide high quality childcare in a cosy, family-orientated environment. We are proud that the majority of our staff have been with us from the very start and are mature and experience staff with skills and qualifications who offer a very personable service.
We originally started in 1993 at the old Parish Centre attached to the Good Shepherd Church by a small dedicated group of mums. The arrangement was informal for a while then as the group became more established and grew in numbers, staff were employed and we decided to apply for ‘charitable’ status. This means we can fundraise and are eligible for specific grants from time to time.
When the old Parish Centre was re-developed several years ago we moved to the Scout Hut belonging to Weaverthorpe Scouts based on Weaverthorpe Road where we still are. We have children with us from the catchment of Woodthorpe, Arnold and surrounding areas, children then leave to attend; Good Shepherd School, Woodthorpe Infants, Ernhale Primary School and Mapperley Plains School.
As a charity we are not directly linked to the Parish for funding but we are very active within the parish community and many of our fundraising activities are collaborations with the Good Shepherd Church.

Ofsted Report
We were rated as ‘Good’ in our last Ofsted report (2015)
It is our intention as a parent run committee to maintain the current high standard of childcare for future generations and we look forward to welcoming many new families into the group.
Events
We like to think we are a sociable bunch at Pre-school despite all our hectic lives and feel that getting together should involve more than a quick 10 minute chat at drop off and pick up times.
We are always thinking of ways to make this happen, whether it’s a picnic in the school holidays or a drink or two in the evening. So if any of you have any ideas for a meet up (with or without little ones) please feel free to let us know.
Some of our recent events have included the pudding club, trips to the theatre and our summer trip to Wheelgate Park.
Keep a look out on our newsletter page for details of all up coming trips and socials so we can continue to make the pre school a great way to meet new people and have some fun.
