Objectives

We support children and young people between 8 and 25 who have a caring role in their family. Their lives are affected by having a parent of family member with mental or physical disability or illness or who is affected by substance misuse. We offer respite groups, counselling based sessions, away days and residential trips to give them a break from their adult-sized responsibilities but also to build resilience to cope better with their situations.

Activities

We run weekly groups in 7 different localities of Gloucestershire and there young people can share their experiences with other young carers, thus reducing isolation, they can access support from youth workers trained in young carers' issues and they can take a break. We also run counselling based session for children of parents with mental ill health and support young adult carers into college and work.
