GLOBAL GIRL MEDIA has been active in the US, South Africa, Kosovo and Morocco for 8 years. It empowers young women from under-served communities through digital journalism and media training to bring their powerful perspectives to the global media stage. Over 300 girl reporters aged between 14 and 22 have been trained by Global Girl Media.
We are in need of fundraising support both in order to fund the core costs of the start-up here and to gain equipment for the UK training this summer.
Your help would be enormously valuable to us as this delicate stage of setting up the UK hub of the charity. Your skills will be enabling young girls in South London to tell their stories, giving them a voice in the community and on the global stage and empowering them to take control of their lives.
Through training in media skills and consciousness raising, teaching interviewing techniques, photography, journalism and coding, Global Girl engages girls and young women in new opportunities. It offers a platform for the trained girls to show their films via Global Girl Media Network TV, where girls can interact and learn from each other, across communities and countries. Now, we are preparing to launch a UK hub. This summer, we aim to train our first cohort of girls in South London.
