Objectives

GAN is a small but dynamic organisation working in Nepal to help develop the education system and implement social change. We are registered in Nepal with the Social Welfare Council as a NGO, and in the UK with the Charity Commission. We have been working in Nepal since 1996 on a wide range of projects, and we pride ourselves on the high quality of our work. We have worked with a range of well-respected organisations, including the British Council, VSO and World Vision.

Our main aim is to improve the quality of education and to provide basic health to the unreached children of Nepal whilst using a sustainable holistic development approach where there are meaningful partnerships with all stakeholders. All of GAN’s projects are grounded in the key principles of the “Education for All”, designed to meet the following key objectives:

  1. Ensuring access to and equity in education;
  2. Enhancing the quality and relevance of education;
  3. Improving efficiency and institutional capacity within the education system.

Activities

1. To improve the quality and relevance of basic school education;
2. To conduct research and advocacy in education and health related sectors;
3. To ensure inclusion, access and equity for all children in basic health and education;
4. To develop the social and emotional life skills of children and young people;
5. To promote volunteerism and the exchange of culture through the involvement of national and international volunteers in the development process;
6. To protect human rights, focusing in particular on the rights of women and children.
