Founded in 2016, Girls I Rate are a non-profit organisation striving to celebrate, empower and advocate for girls and young women in the music and other creative industries. We push for female representation, recognition and gender equality.
To develop services and projects that increase the opportunities, visibility and development of young womxn and girls, (aged 16-30), in the music and other creative industries. Our projects include;
GIR Army: a community of over 400+ young female creatives, with a passion to create, improve gender balance, provide sisterhood and good vibes for womxn in the music & creative industry. By joining #GIRARMY, young womxn engage with GIR and a like-minded community of female creatives to organise & partake in pushing for change. GIR supports their community by providing real opportunities including free group discussions to nurture collaboration, mentoring sessions, masterclasses, song writing camps, GIR Radio, GIRTV YouTube channel and more.
GIR Academy: A programme of events from learning weekenders to MentorMe workshops and masterclasses for girls aged 16 – 30, run by industry experts who donate their time and resources to provide education and career advice within various creative fields. These include, but are not limited to, Song writing, Entertainment Business, Styling, Branding and Marketing, and Performance Coaching.
GIR Radio: Featuring an all-female line-up of DJ’s and guests each week on The Beat London, with GIR DJs and presenters showcasing fresh female talent from the UK and providing a platform on radio for womxn and their music, in particular music of black origin.
