In the area known as the "goring gap" (primarily in and around the adjacent villages of Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and Streatley-on-Thames in Berkshire), to: 1. Promote the conservation of flora, fauna and the environment generally; and 2. Advance education of the public in relation to such conservation.
A range of projects which help protect and enhance the natural environment, increase biodiversity and reduce pollution within the Goring Gap.
Examples include a water quality monitoring programme measuring biological and chemical pollution, planting hedges and creating new habitats, making and distributing nest boxes for threatened species, eg swifts and control of invasive species.
In addition, projects which help increase sustainability and reduce carbon emissions such as the Goring Repair Cafe and recycling exchange event and developing and distributing educational materials to promote these environmental benefits.
