Objectives

The Gerald Coke Handel Foundation supports education about the composer George Frideric Handel and  his contemporaries for students, researchers, musicians and the general public. It provides care for the Gerald Coke Handel Collection, an internationally important collection of rare books, manuscripts, art and ephemera in the Foundling Museum, and offers expert advice on its care and development. It enables access to a wide range of materials and expertise through exhibitions, education and publications, creating a rich resource for research and preserving a unique collection for future generations.

Activities

The Foundation manages the endowment funding the Gerald Coke Handel Collection, and provides expert advice in musicology, art, librarianship, public access and collection development. It funds two staff to manage and care for the Collection and deliver public access through provision of library facilities, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and publications.The Foundation continues to develop the Collection through acquisition of current and antiquarian publications, artworks and ephemera.
