Galop is the UK’s only specialist LGBT+ anti-violence charity. Our mission is to make life just, fair and safe for LGBT+ people. Our services enable LGBT+ people to achieve positive changes in their lives through emotional and practical support that develops empowerment and resilience to engage with their communities and build lives free from violence and abuse. Galop works around three key areas; hate crime, domestic abuse and sexual violence. We also have specific projects to support trans victims of crime and young LGBT+ people at risk.
We have substantial expertise in developing high quality services and support that understands and meets the needs of LGBT+ victim/survivors. Our empowerment-based casework comes from a basis of community knowledge, informing our strategic work and ensuring the voices of LGBT+ victims/survivors are heard at a strategic level locally, regionally and nationally. Anti-discriminatory practice is very important at Galop, as is an active commitment to making a positive contribution to the lives of all LGBT+ victims/survivors. We continue to retain the trust and confidence of LGBT+ communities by remaining an independent, community-centred organisation.
