Futures Unlocked supports ex-offenders to lead crime-free lives resulting in a reduction in reoffending and the building of safer communities across Warwickshire.
We provide a ‘through-the-gate’ mentoring support service carried out by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers. We also run a number of other projects including a Family Support Project.
Volunteers are required to provide practical, emotional and, if relevant, spiritual support for individuals preparing to be released from prison. The volunteer will provide visits in prison whilst the service user is in custody, then provide ongoing support after release from prison, 'through the gate' and into the community, with more intensive support in the first few weeks after release.
Volunteer mentors will help and support service users to engage with services and address any issues that may contribute to them re-offending. This will take in general a couple of hours a week (sometimes more) and we ask volunteers to commit to at least one year with us. We offer ongoing training (including two-and-a-half days induction) and regular (bi-monthly) peer support evenings.
