Objectives

Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is a small, accredited, volunteer run museum. It aims to preserve and conserve the buildings and collections forming part of the former RAF Metheringham Airfield (operating 1943-1946).

Our vision is to inspire everyone with the Story of Metheringham Airfield remembering and keeping alive the stories of 106 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, No. 5 Group Bomber Command, The Royal Air Force, RAF Metheringham, US 52nd Troop Carrier Wing, the people who shaped it and its place in our lives.

Activities

Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is run entirely by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers - The Friends of Metheringham Airfield (FOMA). If you would like to become involved in preserving the memory of RAF Metheringham and the people that served there then why not become a volunteer? If you can spare a few hours each week or even each month you will contribute to the preservation of this important piece of aviation, military and social history.

The roles of the volunteers are many and varied and include such things as stewarding, aircraft preservation, management and care of museum artefacts, general maintenance, events, education, photo and records digitisation and lots, lots more.
