Objectives

Marble Hill House and its 66 acres of surrounding parkland are owned by English Heritage. The site is undergoing a major renovation project, “Marble Hill Revived”, costing over £6 million. The project will be finished in 2022. The Friends of Marble Hill was formed in October 2020 to help ensure that the Marble Hill site has a sustainable future by engaging and involving the local community to use and support the site more extensively.

Activities

The Friends will promote the heritage and natural diversity of the site, raise funds, and encourage the voluntary support needed by English Heritage to run the House and Park. The Friends are particularly keen to increase the relevance of the site to a younger audience and build their involvement in its future, as well as to encourage a better understanding of social history in Marble Hill and its immediate surroundings.

In 2021 the Friends will be running a limited programme of activity, allowing it to concentrate on developing its longer-term strategy. It is likely that the Friends will become an incorporated body by 2022 to allow it to grow more effectively.
