Objectives

The Friends of Brompton Cemetery work to preserve Brompton Cemetery as a model of an historic cemetery with an active role in modern society. The 39 acre (16 hectare) Grade 1 listed cemetery, located in the heart of London, is one of Britain’s oldest and most distinguished garden cemeteries. We help to restore and maintain the cemetery’s buildings, monuments and landscape, and encourage their full use by those sympathetic to the importance, beauty, heritage and fragility of this significant cemetery.

Activities

We manage the Information Centre, and offer visitors Sunday afternoon guided tours, themed tours, group tours at any convenient time in the week, and a varied programme of events and activities. We utilise the Chapel for art exhibitions, concerts and theatre events. Our annual Open Day is held each summer, and provides visitors with a full day of activities, including tours of the catacombs.

We also have a research group, a gardening group, and a photography group.
