FPTA is made up of a supportive group of schools whose aim is to provide the very best education possible and to focus on the four excellences of academic, community, appearance and environment whilst maintaining our own individuality and character.
All academies within the group have a place on the Executive Board which is the body that drives school improvement through support and challenge. This body, through the Executive Head Teacher reports to and is held accountable by the Board of Trustees and the Members.
All academies receive their full budget – no top slicing takes place and they then pay for the services they use including 30% of the Executive Head Teacher’s salary, HR and financial services.- being in control of a the academy’s budget is a key indicator of the level of trust we have in each Local Governing Body.
The founding school – The Fort Pitt Grammar School is an OFSTED rated Outstanding school and is a national support school. The joint lead school – The Thomas Aveling School is an OFSTED rated Good school and is a lead school within Kent and Medway Training meaning that all schools are supported very well, that teachers are supported exceptionally well and that new teachers to the profession are trained within the cluster of schools and benefit from the very strong experiences they have throughout their training.
The Trust is very much rooted within Medway and has no plans to expand out of the local authority but will consider any school who expresses an interest in joining this small but very effective Trust from within Medway.
We operate an Executive Heads Board, where the Headteachers lead on collaboration across the trust at an operational level. We also have a Board of Directors that meet six times times a year to oversee the strategic direction of the trust and hold the Executive Head and Local Governing Bodies to account.
