The Trust is responsible for commissioning new works from emerging sculptors for the nationally well-known Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, which has eighteen major sculptures on the Trail currently. The Trust is also responsible for maintaining, with the Forestry Commission, the Trail, for promoting events in and around the Trail, for raising awareness of the Trail and for outreach to the local community. The Trail is free and open to all, parts are accessible for physically disabled people, has a footfall of some 300,000 people each year and encourages people to walk in and enjoy the Forest.
The Trust conceives annual and tri-annual programmes of commissions and events and raises the funds for new artworks and the promotion of events in the Forest from grant-making bodies, working closely with the Arts Council and the Forestry Commission, and employing a project manager.
