Football Beyond Borders uses the power of football as a tool to tackle inequality and provide opportunities for young people to achieve their goals and make their voices heard.
We deliver long term (minimum of 2 years), intensive support designed to maximise the potential of economically and socially disadvantaged young people aged between 10 and 21 in areas of high deprivation in London and the West Midlands.
We work with 150 young people every week and use the reward of football as a tool to improve academic performance, raise aspirations for the future & increase the confidence of dis-empowered young people, many of whom are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education
From February 2014 to April 2015, we achieved the following results on our FBB Schools programme:
School attendance for participants has increased from 86% to 95%
Behaviour points per student per half term down from 29 to 11.
82% drop in number of participants on school behaviour report.
0 exclusions
100% of participants say they feel more confident about their futures
We deliver 3 core programmes:
FBB Schools
The FBB Schools programme combines high quality football coaching, tutoring, peer mentoring and international travel for groups of under-performing students at schools around London. Working with students in years 6 –10 who are underachieving and misbehaving in the classroom, but are passionate about football, we aim to harnesses their love of the game to engage and inspire them, supporting them to improve their attendance, behaviour in class, attitude to learning and aspirations for the future.
FBB Warriors (Women's Football)
The FBB Women's Football programme aims to get more women playing football by providing free of charge training sessions, open to all ages and abilities, run by young female coaches seeking to gain their professional qualifications. Sessions are held regularly, please contact us for more details.
FBB Youth Voices
Youth Voices is our very own youth-led football media platform that provides young people from our programmes with the training and opportunities to produce their own media. All of our videos can be seen on our dedicated YouTube channel, with an interview with Manchester City legend Yaya Toure being a particular highlight.
