Our Mission and Core Purpose – why do we exist?

To maximise every child’s potential and life choices by delivering inspiring education through our high-performing family of schools and strong connections to our communities.

Our Guiding Principles are that:

• We put children first

• We go further together

• We keep things simple

• We embrace and respect differences

Our Vision – where will we be by 2025?

• Robust leadership and governance at all levels with integrity and purpose.

• Excellence in education through scalable school improvement.

• Efficient, effective and resilient finance and operations.

• Shared accountability, collaboration and embracing challenge.

• A healthy and sustainable family of schools that supports self-confidence, care and strong relationships.

• A community which embraces diversity and inclusion and that works in partnership with wider society.

Folio has developed a collaborative governance model which provides an agreed structure across the Trust, whilst ensuring that each school is in control of supporting and challenging a range of essential areas of evaluation such as its curriculum intent, the behaviour and pastoral care of children and the quality of pupil outcomes.

Each Folio school has a local governance function (Local Governing Body - LGBs) made up of a Chair and a group of governors whose role it is to support and challenge the school in specific areas such as the quality of education, leadership and management and the experience of those children from disadvantaged groups. Clear job descriptions are provided for all LGB members which guide and support them in their specific evaluation role. Each school reports its findings through Headteacher Reports and Lead Governor reports to a central Trust Board which also consists of a Chair and a group of Lead Trustees who are appointed following a skills audit. All Trustees have the interests of all Folio schools in mind.

Headteachers are encouraged to engage with Trustees and all play an active role in agreeing the funding required to progress their school towards meeting its annual development objectives. All Folio Trustees play their part in visiting Folio schools and meeting staff and children so that they remain connected to the reality of running educational establishments. There is a clear Scheme of Delegation which governs the Trust and this is continually reviewed at both the Trust Board and by Local Governing Bodies to ensure that it is fit for purpose.
