Objectives

First Step's vision is to provide the best possible environment to support each family and to enable their very young children with special needs and/or disabilities to maximise their individual potential.

First Step was established in 1988 to provide an inclusive, welcoming and understanding environment for parents and carers of babies and very young children (0-5) , with special needs and/or disabilities.

Today, from our purpose developed building in Hornchurch, Essex, First Step provides:

  • Ofsted registered, educational sessions for children aged 2-4 with special needs and/or disabilities.

  •  Support and respite sessions for families from the birth of their child.

  •  Therapeutic and holistic services, advocacy, training, social care support and benefits advice for immediate and extended family members.

We aim to help families through the many transitions and experiences they may face.

Activities

First Step provides support to families of babies and pre-school children with special needs and/or disabilities. We offer developmental play groups for children aged 0-5, structured learning sessions for children with social and communication difficulties, music therapy, access to our multi sensory room, counselling and parent//carer support groups.
