Geographical remit:

The Felixstowe Museum is an award winning, fully accredited, local museum demonstrating and preserving the multi faceted history of the Felixstowe Area with its long maritime and social history right up today.  situated next to England's largest container port it is perfectly located on the Orwell inlet that serves Harwich and Ipswich.  The Museum attracts visitors from all over the UK and is popular with people of all ages.  It offers additional facilities such as a cafe and bookshop.

The Museum plays a strong educational role and hosts numerous school and organisational groups, many of whom return year after year.

The museum preserves the artefacts that maintain  the history of this vitally important area and keeps them alive for the public to learn from and understand.

The major role of the organisation is to ensure the Museum is open regularly, offers a safe place for people to work and visit and encourages and retains volunteers to assist in these objectives.
