Objectives

FearFree delivers services across the South West for victims of domestic abuse, those who harm and their families, and victims of sexual violence and stalking. We provide responsive, victim focused and trauma informed support.

Typical services we provide, via 1-to-1 and group work, include:

  • Practical and emotional support for those experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse/violence, sexual violence and/or stalking.
  • Education and recovery support programmes.
  • Behaviour Change Support for those who harm.
  • Support for children and young people who have witnessed domestic abuse.
  • Support for young people in abusive, intimate relationships.

The services we provide change lives, provide hope for the future, and give people the opportunity and skills to flourish in their future relationships.

Activities

FearFree provides practical and emotional support to meet the needs of each individual at every stage of their journey, providing information and advice on housing, court procedures, health matters, safety and other practical issues.

We undertake triage for new referrals and manage on-going risk assessments, safety planning and safeguarding issues, working effectively within a multi-agency framework in order to reduce the risk for victims and survivors.

We provide specialist support and training in a number of areas, including:

  • counselling to individuals who have experienced sexual violence
  • independent stalking advocacy and support
  • running programmes to help those impacted by domestic abuse to gain access to training and employment
  • training healthcare professionals in GP surgeries and hospitals to help them identify and engage with individuals suffering trauma from the result of domestic abuse and sexual violence
  • supporting people to break the cycle of abuse, teaching tools and strategies to help individuals change their behaviour
  • education and prevention work - running campaigns and delivering training in schools and local communities, to raise awareness of abuse and its impacts

Our work is carried out on a one-to-one basis and also through the provision of group work.
