Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of good food are wasted by the UK food industry every year and adds to the land waste problem. At the same time millions of people are struggling to afford to eat a healthy diet (Food Foundation, 2018). Our work addresses these issues by redistributing food industry surplus, which would otherwise go to waste, to the people who need it most. In doing this we offer volunteers and trainees the chance to engage in a worthwhile cause and develop their experience and skills.
