Objectives

Family Friends was set up in 1993 to support low-income families. Through a network of trained volunteers we provide befriending services to families living in Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Brent.  We support families facing multiple hardships, from mental health to finances, offering long-term practical and emotional help for 6-12 months.

We carefully match volunteers with families and empower them to thrive. Our impact? Over 95% of families report improvements, with 100% rating us 'Good' to 'Great.' We boost parenting confidence, reduce social isolation, and improve access to health and community services. Our mentors bring stability, academic support, and dreams for a better future.

Why do we exist? Because we offer flexible, long-term support that complements short-term solutions. We're here to make positive, lasting changes in people's lives.

Activities

We carefully select, train, and match volunteers with families.
- Volunteers meet families outside their homes for hours of support.
- We offer long-term help tailored to each family's needs.
- Volunteers commit to a minimum of six months, supported by ongoing supervision.

The Impact of a Befriender:
Parents gain confidence, access local resources, and re-enter education or work. Children benefit from improved socialisation, mental health, join clubs, and thrive academically.
