Fair Train is the national independent voice of Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) employers, existing to improve employment and skills development.
We believe in the benefits of workforce development, and that developing skills through work experience should be an opportunity available to all. We are passionate about supporting employers to invest in the development of their workforce and the future generation who will need the skills to strengthen Britain’s civil society and continue to support the sector to make a significant contribution to the UK economy.
We believe fiercely in the benefits of work experience, not just for those young people looking to kick start their careers, but also for employers looking to recruit the best talent and see the best results for their organisations.
Our work involves:

- Providing advice and guidance to support employers and learning providers to increase the quality of their work experience provision
- Workforce development support in a wide range of forms.
Our programmes and support includes all experiences of work, from Apprenticeships and Traineeships to internships and more traditional work experience.
Fair Train is the proud developer of the national Work Experience Quality Standard accreditation. Developed in consultation with a wide range of employers and learning providers, as well as organisations such as the Department for Education (DfE), the TUC and Ofsted, the accreditation provides a framework for development to support organisations looking to improve the quality of their work experience provision.
Fair Train also campaigns heavily on the benefits of work experience, and coordinates national Work Experience Week on an annual basis, encouraging employers, learning providers and young people to showcase the valuable work experience on offer in order to encourage wider involvement.
Fair Train provides advice and guidance to support employers and learning providers to increase the quality of their work experience programmes, and undertakes a range of workforce development support.
