Objectives

Inclusive arts & heritage within the heart of the community

Our core belief is that enriching people’s lives strengthens our communities. Our work aims to address isolation and inspire strong, vibrant and happy communities, improving the quality of life for all involved.

First established in 1997 and becoming a charity in 2003, Escape offers regular professional workshops, in a relaxed and friendly environment, enabling adults and young people to become involved in creative and community heritage projects. Our programmes offer tailor made creative activities which challenge individual expectations, allowing each person to grow and find their creative voice, helping to promote health & wellbeing and community cohesion.

Escape aims to diversify and develop its impact on communities across Warwickshire each year. We currently have bases in Stratford-upon-Avon and Nuneaton with a range of activities for young people and adults in both communities, alongside outreach projects across Warwickshire.

The home of Escape is the unique Grade ll listed Old Slaughterhouse in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon.  This fascinating building was rescued from dereliction by the charity in 2014 with support from Stratford Town Trust and now is the home of Escape Arts.  It has become the focus to explore local histories and bring communities together through creative, social and heritage based activities, programmes, exhibitions and events.

Escape also has a multi-media Arts & Heritage bus to take our activities out to dispersed communities and to extend its reach all over Warwickshire and beyond.

Activities

Hands on activities for everyone

Escape works with a team of professional artists and heritage professionals who provide an innovative and varied programme of hands on activities designed to be accessible to everyone. These allow individuals to explore their own creative journey as well as getting involved in exciting collaborative projects, which contribute to local festivals and community events.

We also hold lego club, holiday clubs, evening classes and groups for a range of people.
