Objectives

We are a network of friends who share our experiences of surgery for epilepsy.

Members use their experiences to support others both online and at events they organise.

It's so important for anyone and their families to be able to talk to people who has been right through this type of surgery because sufferers may choose not to go ahead because of fear of the Unknown.

Only a small amount of sufferers get the chance to have this type of surgery so to give everyone offered it the best chance we support and encourage members right through the journey both before and after.

The impact can be felt by members straight away because becoming a member opens the door to a wealth of experienced people who have been right through the journey and ready to support each other. Members say being part of such a positive group gives them lots to be proud of.

Activities

We have a closed Facebook group where members all share their experiences and ask each other’s questions. We have over 400 members mostly in the UK but we have started to attract new members from all over the world. We have also started a separate closed group experimentally in Kentucky where one of our members took on the idea to run her own group there on our behalf.

We encourage members to get to know each other well online first then the get together in person and share their experiences in a more personal way which very often creates great friendships. We also encourage members to call into the hospitals where members may need one to one support when their loved ones go down to surgery.
