Endeavour, formally known as Paws for Kids, is a small charity based in Bolton that works with victims of abuse and their pets. Endeavour have a number of projects running, which includes the Pets, IDVA, Safe Haven, The Haven and the Young Persons Services.
The IDVA Project
The Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) Project will support victims/survivors who are subject to MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference). It is a specialised, confidential free service to high risk victims/survivors. The IDVA will support the person in creating a tailored and personalised support and safety plan. An IDVA's role is to support to minimise risk and improve safety.
The Safe Haven Project
The Safe Haven Project provides bespoke support for victims/survivors recovering from domestic abuse. Often people experience a repeat cycle of abuse due to failure to re-settle and cope in a new community. The Safe Haven worker assistance includes helping people recover from their experiences of abuse, supporting them in finding ways of settling in to a new lift and developing strategies for practical and emotional concerns.
The Haven Project
The Haven Project supports victims/survivors who are in temporary accommodation including dispersed properties, B&B and hostel accommodation to move on with their lives free from abuse. The aim is that receiving support will prevent the person from feeling isolated. The Haven worker will implement an individualised package of support to suit each person and their needs.
The Young Persons Projects
The Young Persons Domestic Violence Advise Project (YPDVA) is designed to support young people whose cases are subject to MARAC. The YPDVA will support the young person to put a safety and support plan in place.
The Young Persons Project also includes the YPDW (Young Persons Development Worker), which is designed to support the YPDVA by providing medium/long term support to young people who are escaping or recovering from abuse.
The Pets Project
The Pets Project is there to support victims/survivors of domestic abuse by looking/providing a temporary foster home for their pets. The Project has been specially designed so that victims/survivors cannot be traced through their pets. Endeavour will liaise with both the victim and the foster carer to ensure everything runs smoothly until the pet returns to their owners. The project will even send letters and photographs to let owners know how they are doing.
