Objectives

Encounter Edu supports young people to learn about the world on their own terms and develop as global citizens. We do this by creating education programmes based on expeditions and virtual exchanges from scientists working in the Arctic to connecting classes in Syria with peers in Europe. Our education programmes provide young people with the knowledge, engagement and skills needed to understand how their world is changing and how they can participate in creating a more equitable and sustainable future.

Activities

Encounter Edu creates a range of resources and opportunities for schools internationally to support the development of global citizenship through core curriculum subjects such as Science, Geography and English. These include full schemes of work based on expeditions and field research, teacher training, live video chats between field scientists and video-based virtual exchanges.

Our current activities include the Oceans Academy, developing ocean literacy for young people globally and My Voice-My School, a programme connecting refugees in Syria with their peers internationally around the theme of a quality education.
