Objectives

  1. To meet, share ideas and thoughts within the group to raise awareness of substance misuse issues for a better understanding.
  2. To establish a support group in North Lincolnshire for the families of people who have been affected by drugs and alcohol.
  3. To ensure the needs of carers are considered within treatment plans and needs assessments to bring about positive change for carers and service users.
  4. To be a central voice for carers within Scunthorpe to highlight what is good and what is not good for carers within the treatment system.
  5. To use the services to locate individual and group training needs.
  6. To signpost those in need to the correct support agencies.
  7. To challenge public perceptions of drugs and users through information, education and community projects       

Activities

Through group meetings, one to one, counselling, outreach and holistic therapy our concept is to help our beneficiaries to:

  • —Understand addiction in order to help loved one
  • —Help yourself first
  • —Assess a person’s addiction in order to determine the correct approach
  • —Develop awareness and insight
  • —Improve coping skills
  • —Communicating boundaries, save conflict
  • —Organising a formal intervention
