Objectives

Emerge Hub aims are to see those trapped in sex work break free and stay free from drug, alcohol, and other addictions, poverty, mental health issues and homelessness.

To provide a relapse prevention service that addresses the temptations of returning to former addictions and lifestyles.

To give hope to these marginalised women, together with therapeutic and practical support towards achieving their potential and reintegration back into mainstream society.

Activities

Assertive Outreach
Outreach work forms the first stage of Emerge Hub provision, with the project volunteers making contact and engaging with sex workers up to three nights per week. Outreach usually acts as the first point of contact. The women are offered information, advice, support, and are signposted to a relevant agency i.e. drug services, housing etc.

Day Centre Hub
The Hub forms an important part of the Emerge Hub provision. The centre is locatedĀ in the heart of Grimsby. It is where the sex workers can access more intensive support through one to one therapeutic support, life coaching and action planning. The Hub is where the community support of the women for each other begins to develop.

Emerge Hub works therapeutically in three stages.

  1. Practical support. Includes support at appointments, court hearings, help with financial management, help with reading and form filling, support with setting up in a home, support with accessing other agency support.
  2. Therapeutic. Includes life coaching and emotional support as well as specialist trauma therapy.
  3. Community. Building positive relationship with each other. Restoring family relationships. Education about domestic violence and abusive relationships. Promoting and being examples of healthy relationships. Teaching boundaries, respect, etc.
