ESCUF was created by East Sussex Credit Union as a separate charity with the goal of improving financial resilience and well-being for individuals and families in the local community, and to help to alleviate financial hardship and develop a more financially secure community. Amongst other things, we will do this through, promoting financial education and encouraging family and individual financial planning, promoting a savings culture and, where the need arises, use of organisations that can demonstrate a commitment to ‘fair lending.
We aim to address issues of financial exclusion in Brighton & Hove and across East Sussex by improving skills and capabilities such as promoting financial awareness, Â encouraging and supporting family and individual financial planning, promoting a savings culture. We may also look to support individual cases with directed financial support, such as grants and/or subsidised hardship loans where appropriate and that would not otherwise be available.
